The 4-day India Carpet Expo, one of Asia’s largest handmade carpet fairs, began today, April 14, 2025, at Bharat Mandapam’s Hall No. 1 in New Delhi. The expo, scheduled to run until April 17, 2025, was inaugurated by Shri Giriraj Singh, Union Minister of Textiles, Government of India, in the presence of Smt. Amrit Raj IAS, Development Commissioner, Handicrafts.
The expo has drawn in 125 foreign carpet buyers from 34 countries, including Argentina, Australia, Brazil, France, Canada, Israel, Turkey, Japan, Russia, USA, UK, Italy, Sweden, Germany, Netherlands, and Poland.- Shri Giriraj Singh assured the industry of government support, stating that the ministry will work closely with exporters to drive growth. Shri Kuldeep Raj Vattl, Chairman of the Carpet Export Promotion Council (CEPC), emphasized that the expo provides a perfect platform for international buyers and Indian manufacturers to establish long-term business relationships.
The expo features 160 exhibitors showcasing the finest handmade carpets, rugs, and floor coverings. New designs are being displayed, and participants can expect substantial business opportunities, with orders worth thousands of crores expected to be executed in the near future
The CEPC aims to provide a specialized business environment for carpet importers and manufacturer-exporters, ultimately benefiting the 2 million weavers and artisans employed in this labor-intensive, rural-based MSME cottage industry.
“India Carpet Expo is a significant step towards taking Indian handmade carpet exports to new heights,” said Shri Kuldeep Raj Vattl, Chairman, CEPC.- “We hope this expo will set new milestones and ultimately benefit the weavers and their families,” expressed Dr. Smita Nagarkoti, Acting Executive Director and Joint Secretary, CEPC.
