to upgrade the infrastructure for the handmade carpet industry, in
addition to providing all necessary assistance to the Member Exporters
and Artisans of the region,In order to assist the Artisans and Member Exporters of Handmade
Carpets and other floor coverings from J&K, the Regional Office of CEPC
which was formally inaugurated by Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani, Hon’ble
Union Minister of Textiles, Women & Child Development and in the
presence of Sh. Shantmanu, IAS Development Commissioner
(Handicraft) on 23
rd February 2019 is fully functional, with a nearly hired
full time staff, in the at IICT Campus, Baghi Ali M ardan Khan,
Nowshera, Srinagar – 190011 (J&K). The ministry of textiles through
the office of the development Commisioner Handicrafts has been
instrumentalin opening up of this office.
Sh. Mahavir Pratap Sharma, Chairman, CEPC informed that this
Regional Office of CEPC at Srinagar will implement all schemes required
to upgrade the infrastructure for the handmade carpet industry, in
addition to providing all necessary assistance to the Member Exporters
and Artisans of the region,
Sh. Sanjay Kumar, Executive director of CEPC said that newly hired staff
led by Sh. Ashiq Hussain and fully operational CEPC office will be quite
helpful for the overall growth of the Handmade Carpet industry of the
J&K Region.
