Ms. Shubhra, Trade Advisor & Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India inaugurated 44th Edition of India Carpet Expo in NSIC Exhibition Ground, Okhla, New DelhiNew Delhi, 15th March 2023: The 44th Edition of India Carpet Expo, Organized by the Carpet Export Promotion Council at NSIC Exhibition Ground, Okhla, New Delhi was inaugurated today with lamp lighting by Ms. Shubhra, Trade Advisor & Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India . The Expo is organized under the aegis of Govt. of India with an aim to promote the Cultural Heritage and weaving skills of Indian hand-made Carpets and other floor coverings amongst the visiting overseas carpet buyers. Ms. Shubhra mentioned that “We are very glad that CEPC organizes this Expo twice every year to promote Indian weavers worldwide. Every year Expo generates a huge amount of business. We have everything handmade and hand-weaved here, which is the major attraction to foreign buyers.” Ms. Shubhra appreciates the new innovations and displays by the Members. On the issue of operation of the Ugapur Airport with facility of Cargo Terminal Terminal to facilitate the Exporters of the area, Ms. Shubhra mentioned that its State Govt. issue and assured her full support for the growth of the industry. She appreciated the efforts made by the Chairman and Committee of Administration in organizing the India Carpet Expo on such a large scale and expressed hope that the benefit will ultimately go to the artisans and weavers. Mr. Umar Hameed, Chairman, CEPC while briefing Ms. Shbhura mentioned that for the first time in the history of the India Carpet Expo Council has record number of 275 Exhibitors showcasing their products and Council received registration of more than 425 overseas buyers for their visit to the Expo. Mr. Umar Hameed, Chairman, CEPC said “India carpet expo is an ideal platform for International Carpet Buyers, Buying houses, buying Agents, Architects, and Indian Carpet Manufacturers & Exporters to meet and establish long-term business relationships. This exhibition is a crucial step towards taking Indian exports of Handmade carpet to much greater and newer heights.” Mr. Hameed further added that orders worth over thousand crores are expected to be executed. New fall-winter colors and designs are being showcased at the Carpet Expo. India Carpet Expo is one of the largest Handmade Carpet Fairs in Asia with a unique platform for buyers to source the best handmade carpets, Rugs, and other floor coverings under one roof. With the participation of over 305 exhibitors, it has become a popular destination worldwide for Handmade Carpets. A record number of 160 overseas carpet buyers (upto 3.30 p.m.) from around 65 countries mainly from Argentina, Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Denmark, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, , Greece, Hungary, Iran, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Kenya, Korea, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Malaysia, Mauritius, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Palestine, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, South Africa, Spain, Tanzania, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, U.A.E., U.K., U.S.A., Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Zimbabwe registered their presence on the first day of the fair.
