The Indian Silk Export Promotion Council Observing and Celebrating National Handloom Day on 7th August 2020 and August Fortnight in the best interest of #Vocal4handmade “Handloom

 The Indian Silk Export Promotion Council observing #vocal4handmade “National Handloom Fortnight” from August 7 – 22, 2020 and Celebrated the National Handloom Day on 7th August 2020 in all our Four Regional Zones ie Southern, Western,  Eastern and Northern Region In Varanasi Region of Northern India, the ISEPC observed and celebrated the great day #vocal4handmade and Dr Bimal Mawandia – Chairman – ISEPC  through Dr Rakesh Kr Srivastava, a Sr Member of Committee of Administration of ISEPC in Varanasi region facilitated, and thanked Master facilitators of Govt Schemes going directly to the registered weavers of Varanasi & adjoining region, which are being running through and implemented by the various Governmental Agencies, by following & maintaining the guidelines of Health Ministry and honoured the dedicated officers, who are tirelessly helping the traditional handloom weavers, including silk brocade sarees namely Shri Sandeep Thubrikar (Deputy Director), Handloom, (Weaving Service Centre); Shri Abdullah ji (Assistant Director – Handicraft); Shri Nitish Dhawan (Assist Director, Handlooms); Shri Gopesh Kumar Maurya (Assistant Director-Handicraft and TFC in-charge); Shri Ashish Kumar Singh (Head of NHDC, Varanasi); Shri Brijesh Kumar Shukla (Head of Textile Committee), Ministry of Textiles, in Varanasi Region; Other prominent exporters present during the celebration #vocal4handmade are Shri Mukund B Agarwal, Director, GM Designer Handloom;,Dr Rakesh Kumar Srivastava, Director, Sabava Impex Pvt Ltd Shri Mahmoodul Hasan, Silk international, Varanasi;Shri Prakash Singh, Banaras Handloom;Shri Moinuddin, Zahir Silk;Ms Meenu Srivastava, Sabava Handloom; On behalf of the ISEPC Dr Srivastava welcomed dignitaries, Guest of Honour and other guests and thanked them for witnessing the day one Celebration of #vocal4bhandmde of National Handloom Fortnight.  He also briefed them about the history and importance of the Handloom and contribution of silk weavers and handloom products in Indian economy, which is booming day by day;

Over and above some weavers and traders, and members of the nearby industry were also present; Dr Bimal Mawandia – Chairman – ISEPC congratulated the Silk Industry of Varanasi region on the National Handloom day and assured them that the Indian Silk Export Promotion Council is committed to provide them the better prices of their products and allow them to participate with their best of products nationally and internationally;

Dr Bimal further informed that The Council was planning to organise the facilitation of #vocal4handmade on Video conferencing through Virtual Mode to enable the Council to spread the message to the larger part of the society on importance of the National Handloom Day and Fortnight, but due to technical reasons, it could not materlised, hence the small gathering for honouring the facilitators; which was concluded on a successful note by exchanging the ideas and future plans on how to be #vocal4handmade, but the Council’s programme will go for the fortnight from August  7 to 22, 2020;

  1. This is the first time in the history Banaras that Govt Officers of Handlooms and Handicrafts were facilitated by the Export Promotion Council which is a laudable work done by the Silk Export Promotion Council, Delhi. we can say that its a welcome steps to honour the Master facilitators

  2. ISEPC is the only Council who is doing their best in the Varanasi region exceptionally well for the welfare of Weavers, master weavers, craft persons and etc from their own funds….
