New delhi 279 overseas carpet buyers from around 60 Countries and  266 Buying Representatives/ Buying Houses  attended India Carpet Expo 2019.

New Delhi, March 13th, 2019Carpet Export Promotion Council organized the 37thEdition of India Carpet Expo from 10th to 13thMarch 2019at NSIC Exhibition Ground, Okhla, New Delhi, with an aim to promote the Cultural Heritage and showcase the weaving skills  of Indian hand-knotted carpet artisans amongst the overseas hand-knotted carpet buyers. India Carpet Expo was inaugurated on 10thMarch 2019 by Shri Raghvendra Singh, IAS, Secretary (Textiles), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India  in the august presence of                   Shri Shantmanu, IAS, Development Commissioner (Handicrafts),    Shri Mahavir Pratap Sharma, Chairman, CEPC, Shri Siddh Nath Singh, 1stVice-Chairman, Shri Umar Hameed, 2ndVice-Chairman,  Members of the Committee of Administration and  all participants. 

Dignitaries like  Shri Virender Singh, Hon’ble Member Parliament, Bhadohi, Shri N. Ramesh, Director, Department of Commercemarked their presence in the Expo.

The Chairman of CEPC Mr. Mahavir Pratap Sharma, said “over 1360  enquiries and almost Rs.  150- 200 Crore business is expected from the 4 day Expo which shall be executed in the coming months. This expo will lead to opening up of new market opportunity for the industry and shall help small and Medium Indian carpet exporters in promoting their products to overseas countries. Eventually, this ongoing process, on a broader scale, is instrumental in projecting” Make in India Brand” in overseas markets.

 He further said Indian carpet expo is an ideal platform for International Carpet Buyers, Buying houses, buying Agents, Architects and Indian Carpet Manufacturers & Exporters to meet and establish long term business relationship.Carpet importers from  50 countriesmainly from Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Chile, Egypt, France, Germany, Hongkong, Iran, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Keney, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mexico, Nepal, Netherlands, Russia, Singapore, Spain, South Africa, Sweden, Turkey, Ukrain, U.K., UAE, USA etc. participated in the expo. Buyers from new countries like Azerbaijan, Israel, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Malaysia, Mauritius, Morocco, Philippines, Qatar,  Romania, Turkmenistan   are also attended the Mega Expo.

The Carpet Export Promotion  Council showcased  the products of 226 reputed small, medium and large manufacturer exporters from all over country viz U.P., Rajasthan, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh etc.

It is the endeavor of the Council to provide exclusive business environment to the both carpet importers as well as manufacturer-exporters, which ultimately will benefit about  2 million weavers and artisans employed in this highly labour intensive rural based MSME cottage industry.

Shri Sanjay Kumar, Executive Director, CEPCexpressed his happiness and mention that ICE  opens new business avenues for the participants and in coming years India will capture 50% share in the international market of handmade floor coverings.

Shri Sharma also convey his thanks to the Government of India, Secretary (Textiles), Secretary (Commerce), Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of External Affairs, Embassies / High Commissioner of foreign missions and all other Senior Officers of Central and State Governments for their support for this Expo.

Regarding announcement of next India Carpet Expo Shri Mahavir Pratap Sharma informed that a joint inspection meeting  of CEPC,  Department of Industries, Govt. of U.P.   and all stake holders was held at Bhadohi Expo Mart on 8th March 2019. During the inspection 26 preliminary observations were made that needed immediate attentionand the same was conveyed to the Department of Industries, Govt. of U.P.  They assured for completion of the above work within 2 months.

Chairman, CEPC advised ED-Secy. and other local board directors and officials to take periodical review meeting every fortnight with the project manager and concerned stake-holders.  On the basis of the work performance,  the Committee of Administration of the Council will decide the venue for the next India Carpet Expo.
